On 29th of May 2017 Mr Antonio Sevilla, President of the Port Authority of Cartagena, Mr José Llorca, President of the Spanish Ports, Mr Pedro Rivera, Murcia Region Government Presidency and Promotion Counsellor and Mr José Ramón Diez de Revenga, Murcia Region Transports Managing Director, inaugurated the Port of Cartagena cruise quay extension.
The quay has been extended 140 metres having thus a total lenght of 667 metres, which allows from now onwards the possibility of two large cruise vessels calling simultaneously Port of Cartagena.
Thanks to this new infrastructure Port of Cartagena expects more than 150 cruise ship calls and more than 240.000 passengers in 2017.
In 2016 Port of Cartagena received 187.000 passengers on 121 cruise ship calls which meant 25% increase on passengers and 12% increase on calls from the previous year.
